Breeding Stock

At Mesta Meadows our goal is to produce the finest wool possible which is ideal for artisan spinner and commercial textile applications. Everything in our program is geared to producing excellent wool quality. And this all starts with great genetics and breeding stock. Our Rambouillet breeding stock comes from the Erk Ranch in South Dakota, one of the best wool producers in the country.  Our Cormo stock were selected from premium farms in Virginia and Illinois. Every year, we take a few of our best rams and offer them as breeding stock for other wool producers.

2024 Ewes Lambs For Sale

This spring we will have a few registered Rambouillet ewe lambs and Rambouillet / Dairy cross bred ewe lambs. Rambouillet are an amazing dual purpose fine wool/meat breed with exceptional mothering abilities.  Our Dairy Ewes are Lacaune/East Friesian and the Diary/Rambouillet crosses result in some ewes that have excellent reproductive traits and great weaning weights. We will start weaning in late April so we strongly recommend putting your name on the waiting list if you are interested. We always sell out within a few weeks of weaning.                                                            

2024 Wool Breeding Rams for Sale

We have some great rams that will be ideal for the Fall Breeding Season. We have registered Rambouillet Rams which are ideal for your fine wool flock, while also being a great meat sheep. We also have some really nice East Friesian / Lucerne / Rambouillet cross rams. These rams grow incredible fast, and will certainly improve the milk production of the flock. 2024 Dairy Breeding Rams for Sale

We have some great rams that will be ideal for the Fall Breeding Season. We have Lacaune/ East Friesian crosses which will be incredibly good breeding rams. The Lacaunes are very hardy, while the Friesians have incredibly productive milking careers.  We believe this combination makes for the ideal dairy sheep breed. 

 

We also have some really nice East Friesian / Lacaune/ Rambouillet cross rams. These rams grow incredible fast, and will certainly improve the milk production of the flock.
