About Mesta Meadows
Mesta Meadows is a sheep and cattle farm located on the eastern edge of the beautiful Ozak Highlands. At our farm we raise fine wool sheep, cattle, poultry and Great Pyreneese livestock guard dogs. Our sheep flocks produce the finest wool possible for our fiber artisan customers across North America and Europe based on our Rambouillet (French Merino) and Cormo sheep flocks. We also have a small flock of East Frisient/Lucerne dairy sheep to provide our customers with milk. We also provide prime quality lamb meat as well as registered breeding stock. Our cattle operation produces beef from both Scottish Highland and angus/cross cattle. We also sell registered Scottish Highland breeding stock. And to keep all of our livestock safe, we raise registered Great Pyreneese livestock guard dogs.
At Mesta Meadows providing the best quality care for our sheep, and the best care of the wool they produce is extremely important. As such, we are proud to announce that we have completed Level 1 certification for the American Wool Assurance certification. We are currently working on level 2. This certification is about achieving standards to provide the highest quality of wool possible. We have also completed Level 1 certification for the Sheep Safety & Quality Assurance from the American Sheep Industry. This certification is about providing the highest quality care possible for the amazing sheep that produce our wool. We are also working on level 2 of this certification.
In the fall of 2022 we opened The Mason Jar Store, our farm store where we sell sheeps cheese, sheep milk, beef, lamb, pasture raised poultry and duck, jams and jellies, unique syrups (Hickory, Walnut, and Maple to name a few), raw wool, yarn, and local craft items. We store is open on Saturday's from 9 to 4.
We welcome visitors and encourage you to come see our sheep and cattle. We are located 2 1/2 hours southwest of St. Louis, about 2 1/2 hours north of Memphis, and 45 minutes west of Cape Girardeau. We welcome visits to our farm and we provide farm tours. Please contact us in advance to schedule a time for a tour or even a mini farm staycation!

High-Quality Wool
About our Flocks
Great wool starts with great sheep. Rambouillet (also called French Merino) are excellent dual purpose (fiber and meat) sheep. Their wool is soft, with excellent crimp to create warmth and bounce, and luxuriant 3" to 4" staple length. They are great mothers and our flock averages 1.5 lambs per ewe per year. Our Cormo sheep are an Australian breed which were developed by crossing Corriedale and Merino sheep. Their wool is long (up to 5" or more) with excellent softness and crimp.
